Apples
“AHHHHH!!!!” yelled a mysterious man running through a deep valley within a desert wasteland. Heavy foot steps grew louder as man mysterious man emerged out of the valley and onto the flat wasteland. The man was 5’8 and weighed around 150lb. He had black waving hair, black piercing eyes, and a slender body that was not to muscular. He wore a white sweat short with the sleeves from his elbow to the end was black. He also wore white pants with the knee and down black as well.
The Mysterious man continued to run as fast as he could. The reason for him running was unknown. As he ran, he gave a small look back and then his eyes grew. He stopped in his tracks, panting for air as he stared in the opposite direction that he was running to. “Thank God! Man… good thing it stopped chasing me.” He said to himself, “It’s so dangerous out here… why can’t I have a normal stroll now and then with out being attacked by some weird freak of nature!” As he said those words, his whole body began to get darker. On the ground was the Silhouette of a creature and it was a pretty big. “Seriously… I hate my life…” The man said in a low and sad voice, but with a small pinch of sarcasm.
He jumped forward and turned around in the air so he could face the creature. When he landed, he stared up into the sky; the sun being blocked by the head of what ever it was. “You know… stalking people isn’t a normal thing.” The man said. The creature was massive. It looked like a Mutated Caterpillar that gained 2 tons of weight. The creature opened its mouth and green saliva started to drop. When the saliva fell to the ground, it began to melt it. The creature’s saliva was like an acid from a nuclear powered plant. The man gave out a small sigh of disappointment. He raised his right arm and looked directly at the creature and said, “Sorry big disgusting bug thing, I aint nobodies meal.” His arm then began to glow in a white and peaceful aura. In a flash of light that had come from his hand and crossed the area, a sword white of blade appeared.
The man then began to run towards the creature, with his arms getting pushed back by the wind and onto his sides. As he held the sword, it pierced the ground and began to cut through it as he ran. The man then jumped high into the air above the creature and raised the blade high into the air. “Heavenly Judgment!” He yelled in a high and powerful voice. He brought the blade down, cutting through it. As he fell down, the sword made its way to the belly of the creature and the man pulled it out. The sword was covered in green slime and the man just flicked it, removing the substance. He gave out another sigh, just like before and began to walk forward. “I thought that if I just ran away, we could skip such a needless battle.” He said in a soft tone, “It’s too bad that the one you had to chase… was one of the members of the Royal Knights.” The blade then just vanished in thin air and the man continued to walk. “ Jan Ervie Dela Plaza … but my friends call me J.V.” as he said those words, a gust of wind blew and waved his hair and clothes around. He looked awesome in so many ways.
“Enough with the stupid pose and talking to yourself J.V.!!!” a voice shot out form the distance. J.V. fell onto the ground in disappointment. “Way to ruin the mood…” J.V. replied to the voice. The man who called out earlier appeared in a hovering vehicle above. The vehicle did not make a sound, silent as the very dessert they were within. The man threw down a rope towards J.V. who grabbed it and climbed up. Once J.V. got up on the vehicle, he sat down on the couch and gave out a sigh of relief. The man looked at J.V. and handed him an apple. “You might have wanted this…” The man said in a friendly voice. J.V. looked at him, his eyes watering and his hands shaking. J.V. slowly took the apple and engulfed it in his mouth and swallowed it all in one gulp. “THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!” J.V. cried out in bliss. The man just stared at him and twitched a little. He stood up and walked towards the pilot’s room. “J.V…. you have issues with those apples.” He said, “we just met after a whole year and apples are the first thing on your mind. You really need to get your priorities checked.” The man then disappeared into the room. J.V. positioned himself on the couch and shut his eyes. “I missed you to Zach…” J.V. said in a caring voice.
“Wake up!” A voice yelled. J.V. sat up quickly from his sleep, hearing a random voice shout out. “What was that?! Huh?! Where am I?!” J.V. said in reply to the voice, “wait… wah?” J.V. was now totally confused. A bag then hit his face, surprising J.V. again. “What’s Going On?!” J.V. yelled in fright from everything that was happening. Zach was in front of J.V., it turns out he was the one who yelled and threw the bag. Zach cracked his knuckles in annoyance from J.V.’s actions. “Can you please Be Quiet!!!? Were finally here, so shut your mouth and just follow freaking directions!” Zach yelled. J.V. just looked and nodded his head. Zach walked out of the vehicle and J.V. followed. They were both inside a seemingly endless tunnel of giant proportions. J.V. looked around with a vacuous expression, as if he was in a reverie. J.V. then snapped back, after hearing screams of terror in one part of the area. J.V. looked sadly at Zach, “So… no progress at all?” he asked, breaking the silence. Zach shook his head, “No… not at all. Ever since we humans tried to go against Gods laws, we just screwed ourselves over. Extending our lives… bringing humans back from the dead. It all seemed unbelievable when we succeeded, and it was. It all back fired and now we have no choice to kill these manifestations that we created.” Zach said, in reply to J.V.’s question. J.V. clutched his hands and looked away, “There has to be something we can do…They’re still hum—” J.V. was cut off by Zach, “No! They are no longer human! They have no emotions and they have no feelings towards others. They just kill and kill, and what ever they touch becomes one of them!” Zach then began to walk faster, “Come on… we have not much time to waist.” J.V. looked forward and began to walk faster as well. J.V. then reached into his pocket, taking out an apple he got before he left the vehicle, “What about us?” He asked in a soft tone, taking a bite out of the apple right after.
In a short while they finally arrived in a giant dome. It supported Millions of people and was located deep under ground. The dome stretched out for hundred of miles and even had its own areas of trees and parks. Water was being gathered from pipes that reached the oceans. Salt and other bacterial things that came from the ocean were being filtered by multiple devices in the pipes. Fruits and Vegetables where being grown, and cultivated, and even animals were also raised in this giant dome. It seemed like everything was perfect, but it was just a way of hiding the truth. That the only reason why people made the dome was to survive.
J.V. continued to follow Zach into a giant building. Inside the building, scientists and government officials roamed like cattle. J.V. looked around, not minding anything. He was very familiar with this type of place. After a while of walking the two made their way deep under the building. When they were down there, they made their way towards a heavily guarded room. It had giant doors that required ID, Fingerprints, Eye scans, Voice Recognition, and even Passwords. After each door opened, it seemed to get more frightening. The very thought of what could be so important or even dangerous within the building gave chills down J.V.’s spine. Once all the doors were open, the inside of the room was red. It was a giant room, with tests tubes, computers, scanners, and all that science stuff, but the really important and dangerous things were deeper in. As they continued to make their way, screams and yells could be heard… but they weren’t human noises. Zach then stopped and so did J.V.. The both stared straight forward, seeing beasts and distorted bodies of all sorts tied down and placed in containers. A bunch were wriggling to break free, while others seemed dead. This was the Nightmare Room.
“Its been so long since I’ve been here.” J.V. said in a disappointed tone, “Not much as changed… still a sight that you don’t ever want to see.” J.V. then looked away from the chaos and down to the floor. Zach began to walk forward, towards a metal pod. Zach stopped and turned to look at J.V.. He placed his hand on the pod and took in a deep breath, “It all started 10 years ago when project “ELAY” started. As you know, project ELAY stood for “Eternal Life And Youth.” bringing people back from the dead and even giving them and people alike, eternal life and youth. That is… until one wished to end his or her life… even if one was to not die by time, one could still die from the act of severe injury. Even disease were not a problem anymore since the very project rewrote everything in ones body. Including deadly viruses and diseases alike. Then that’s when it happened.” Zach’s voice grew more fierce, “everything back fired! The ELAY project began to change the DNA structure of the people, turning them into mutants! Fowl beasts that plagued our city’s and innocent people. Even people who escaped with scars or wounds that would haunt them of those terrible memories weren’t safe! They began to change as well, the ELAY project became a infectious virus!” Zach then opened a lid and started to type something on a monitor inside. After the last button, he closed the lid and the pod began to shake. It started to slowly open, as steam came gushing out. Zach looked at J.V. with a serious look, “That’s why we were created J.V…. the Royal Knights. 12 in all and now we add a 13th. I introduce you to Project 013... Or you could just call her Theresa.” As he said those words, the pod fully opened and a young women in a dress of white emerged. She slowly got out of the pod and walked towards J.V.
“Hello… nice to met you!” the young women yelled out in spirit. It was still awkward, with all the beastly yells in the background. “My name is Theresa T. Do, I will be your partner for the rest of your life!” She said all that in a joyful tone, giving a big smile and an aloof feeling. J.V.’s eyes twitched a little, “Seriously… I am all for having a hot partner, but her attitude in this type of place freaks me out.” J.V. said honestly. Zach gave a small humph sound and began to walk out the area. He then raised his hands in the air and waved them, “I’m happy that you like your partner so well, but try not to do anything perverted alright? She wasn’t born yesterday… was she?” The last two words sounding very unsure. J.V. looked to the girl and gave a very big grin and when he did, a loud “slap” noise that drowned out the yelling and screams occurred. J.V.’s right cheek now had an imprint of a woman’s hand. The girl gave J.V. cold look and began to walk out of the area as well. She looked back for a brief moment, “Zach told me about your behavior! Don’t think you will get away with anything!” She yelled out. Theresa then looked forwards and continued her way out of the room. J.V.’s eyes were wide and he just stood there, shocked, and scared. It was a few seconds later that he remembered where he was and ran after the girl.
Way above the dome, all the way above ground, a flying machine passed. Inside was a Government Pilot examining the area. “All Clear in Sector C.” the pilot said, “Wait…” the pilot then noticed a man walking in the desert. It seemed the man was very tired and traveled for a long time in the dessert. “It seems we have a survivor. No signs of infection anywhere. You better send a rescue team to check it out.” The pilot then continued to fly, passing the traveling man. A few minutes later, 3 jeeps appeared in sight, making way towards the man. The jeeps stopped 20 feet away. 3 men from each Jeep came out, including the drivers. A total of 9 people with guns and armor padding walked towards the Traveling man. One of the Soldiers walked closer towards the man, investigating him of any problems… “Can you under stand me?” The soldier asked and the man nodded his head. The soldier then slowly began to bring his gun down, “Have you been bit—” The Soldier was then interrupted by the man. “No, I haven‘t been bitten yet… I came here from one of the secret refugee camps on the east sector. I was to move here, to start a new life, but our transport vehicle was attacked. I was the only survivor… I managed my way out of the vehicle and ran before I was devoured by any of those damnations.” The man then gave out a smile, seeing as the Soldiers brought down their weapons. The Soldiers then went back into the vehicles, having the man ride with them. They slowly made their way back to the Dome, passing multiple soldiers and guards.
After much travel, the man was finally close to the city. As he walked and being surrounded by 2 Soldiers, they made their way towards a scanner. Once they walked in, the alarm began to sound off! All the Soldiers took out their weapons, pointing it to the man. The man stepped back, raising his hands in the air in fright, “I-I didn’t do anything?! Wha?!?!?! What’s happening?!” He cried out. One of the soldiers gave him a piercing look, “The scanner says that you are infected! You said you escaped!” The Soldier yelled. The man was panting hard as he saw the killer intent in the Soldiers eyes, “I swear to you! I did escape!” then at that moment, he gave out a wide grin. “Escaped from the clutches of Death!!!” His voice became sadistic and insane. His body began to expand and then exploded, sending small needles out of his body, striking all the Soldiers. The Soldiers then flew back from the impact and landed hard on the ground. It was quiet, except for the repeating noise of the alarms. Then all of a sudden, the seemingly dead bodies of the Soldiers began to rise up. Each Soldier held their gun’s tightly as the reinforcement arrived. “What Happened?!” One of the reinforcement yelled out. One of the Soldiers looked at him with a grin, “Its okay… we disposed of the threat.” the Soldiers all nodded in agreement. The reinforcements looked at the remains of the man and all sighed a sigh of relief. “All right then… we’ll be off.” The reinforcements then left the area.
“Are you serious?! 500 Dollars?!” J.V. yelled out in a restaurant. The waiter nodded his head in a little fear. J.V. looked to Theresa, “Seriously?! How can you eat so much?!” J.V. asked, waiting for a reply. Theresa brought her head down in embarrassment, “I only had Fried Rice and Salad… you’re the one who ate 30 plates of food!” Theresa then looked up at J.V.. J.V. looked at her carefully and placed his left hand on his head, “Oh Yeah!” he yelled out in a carefree tone. Theresa then cringed and muttered under her breath, “Why did I have to get him as a partner…” she then placed her head down on the table, her cheeks pressing against the sheets covering the wood. “Save me…” as Theresa said that, 3 soldier walked into the restaurant, talking about there day. J.V. quickly stood up and grabbed a fork. He then looked at the soldier in the middle and lunged it at him! Impaling the soldier right in the head. Everyone screamed in terror and the other 2 tried to grab their guns, but it was to late. J.V. disappeared from sight and reappeared in front of the Soldiers. In a second, the 2 Soldiers fell on the ground unconscious, from a powerful impact in the stomach area that was shot at blinding speed by J.V.. J.V. stood there, in front of the impaled Soldier, grabbing the neck and began to squeeze. “How many are there?!” He yelled out. Theresa ran to J.V. and grabbed his arm, “What are you doing?! He is just an innocent man!” She shouted, trying to get J.V. to listen. J.V. kept his eyes on the Soldier, who wasn’t dead. Theresa then looked to the Soldier, surprised to see his moving eyes and breathing body. J.V. then began to squeeze harder, “He isn’t human… he is infected by the one of the mutants. You should be able to sense that Theresa.” J.V. said to her, “Now tell me! How many are there?!” J.V.’s voice fierce and worried. The Soldier gave out a smile. “Find out yourself Knight!” The Soldier replied. J.V. gave out a soft sigh and the soldier disintegrated in a beam of light.
“So your saying that there is a number of people that are infected in the Dome?!” A man in a green suit with multiple badges yelled. J.V. and Theresa Nodded. The man paced back and forth in fear, “ Please… I need you guys to find those infected and eliminate them immediately! If we don’t… the survivors here will surely die. Or worse, become one of them! It will take to long to evacuate, and even if we do… there is a small chance that those mutants are out there waiting for us.” The Man then sat down on his fancy brown, turning chair. J.V. turned towards the door and began to walk, Theresa right behind him. J.V. raised his hand to the side and gave out a thumbs up, “Elimination was what I intended to do in the first place General.” J.V. then disappeared with Theresa. Later… outside in a giant field, Thousands of Soldiers Stood. Theresa Examined them as she ran down, trying to sense any sign of mutation. It seemed that all the Soldiers were fine, except 5 Soldiers where absent. Back in the city, J.V. jumped around on roof tops. Trying to locate the infected. It seemed like a wild goose chase. Searching for a needle
in a dang hay stack… a Giant hay stack.
Deep In a dark alley, 5 Soldiers hid and discussed. “They’re obviously looking for us!” One Soldier said out loud. “That may be the case… so I suggest we start infecting!” A Soldier replied. They all nodded their heads in agreement and began to walk out the ally way. As soon as the Soldiers walked out, they were greeted by a joyful J.V. “Found you…” J.V. said in a blissful tone, he had an apple in his left hand and opened his mouth. He then took a massive bite that engulfed the whole apple. J.V. swallowed the apple and took a deep breath and exhaled. He looked back the soldiers and smiled, “After hearing your conversation, I believe its safe to assume you haven’t been able to infect anybody.” J.V. then pointed his fingers at the Soldiers. The Soldiers then dispersed in fear of what could possible happen to them. “No!!! I can’t die!” One Soldier yelled out. J.V. slowly stood up and began to point his fingers at the running Soldiers. “Bang… Bang… Bang… Bang…” He said as he made his way to 4 of the Soldiers. Each Soldier imploded in a bright light. No remains were left at all. J.V. then looked to the last Soldier left, standing in fear of his fate that was to come. J.V. slowly raised his finger at the Soldier, ready to shoot, but then Theresa appeared in the middle of J.V. and his shot. Theresa looked at J.V. with a joyful smile, “It turns out everyone is fine! There are 5 Soldiers missing though, and I suspect them to be infected!” Theresa informed. J.V. stood up, his eyes wide, and his heart beating. He opened his mouth to warn her, but it was to late. “Theresa!!! Behind you!” J.V. yelled with all his might. She quickly looked back, but when she did, she was grabbed by the Soldier. The Soldiers mouth was open and he lounged at Theresa’s neck.
Theresa’s eyes were closed… afraid of what was to come. She only enjoyed so little of life. Spending all her time in that Pod, waiting to be released. Time passed, as she waited… but nothing. She felt no bite, no pain what so ever from the Soldiers last attempt to infect someone. She slowly opened her eyes, and in front of her was J.V.. He hugged Theresa, keeping her close to him, with his right hand. His left was over her shoulder and inside the Soldiers mouth. His hand bleeding as it was pierced by the teeth of the Soldier. J.V. looked at up at the creature and gave out a look of disappointment. “Don’t you dare touch her…” He said in a soft tone. With that, the Soldier vaporized into thing air. J.V. slowly let go of Theresa and began to fall to the ground. The virus traveling though his whole body. As he slowly fell, J.V. suddenly stopped. Theresa held onto him, keeping him up. She placed her arms around him and began to cry. “I-I’m so sorry! Its my fault!!!” She cried out in agony. As she cried, Soldiers began to rush into the area. Quarantining it as fast as they could, so no infections could spread and harm anyone.
~Its dark… really dark… like the one… Zach likes. Darkness isn’t just my thing. I’d rather have light. Man what I would give for light… or at least an apple. Right?~ A voice echoed in complete darkness. ~I wonder if I am dead… maybe worse. I’m probably hurting people that I care about. Man I wish it’s the first option. I’d never want to hurt the people I love. Especially Theresa… she doesn’t deserve such a thing.~ Suddenly, a small glimpse of light appeared. ~Eh? Oh crap… is Theresa going to beat the hell out of me? That must be her…~ The light grew wider, engulfing the darkness. Soon, Theresa’s face was seen, above J.V.’s. J.V. looked around confused, “What happened? Didn’t I get bitten?” He asked. Theresa nodded her head, but continued to smile. She began to giggle a little, “It turns out… that because of your obsession for apples and eating them every second neutralizes the Virus. So you should be fine and won’t go crazy just as long as you eat them every now and then.” Theresa then sighed in relief, “Still… the treatment for this horrible disease was those crappy apples you ate?” She said in disbelief. J.V. sat up and gave out a big grin, “Turns out an apple a day keeps the virus away!” as he said that, his head was impaled hard by the fists of Theresa. “You Idiot! Don’t make stupid puns like that!” She yelled out in annoyance, but with a small hint of sincerity. J.V. grabbed his head in pain and began to whine, “Ow Ow Ow!!! I am in the dang hospital for Pete’s sake!” J.V. shouted out, “No need to be so rough!” J.V. then looked at Theresa and she looked at him. There was a moment of silence, but it suddenly broke when both members began to laugh.
